I would like to start off by saying this particular article that I am writing is actually an assignment of week 2 of the internship that focuses on teaching several aspects which are useful for someone who wants to learn Digital Marketing.

What is Digital Deepak Internship Program?

Digital Deepak is a well known Indian digital marketer who has built a massive following over the last couple of years in the Digital Marketing Industry. He has several courses, e-books, videos to help people who want to learn digital marketing but one thing that stands out from the rest, that is Digital Deepak Internship.

Digital Deepak Internship not only focuses on providing information but also makes sure that all the people who are part of the internship successfully completes it by learning and completing the assignments. Each assignment you complete earns you a cashback. If you successfully manage to complete all the assignment and are able to understand the information provided in the internship you will have an opportunity to earn more than you paid for the in the first place.

I joined batch 13 of Digital Deepak internship in June 2021 and so far I had a positive experience so far. Following are some of the important aspects I learned in the week 2 of the internship.

  1. The fundamentals of marketing
  2. Digital marketing vs. Traditional marketing.
  3. CATT Marketing Funnel
  4. Integrated Digital Marketing
  5. Personal Branding: MassTrust Blueprint

The fundamentals of marketing

Marketing is not just about selling. Someone who works as a Marketer in a company may focus only on selling a product and may not care about the quality of the product because that someone may only be working for the paycheck at the end of month but If you really want to market your product, first thing you should focus on is creating the best possible product on the subject you want to sell.

Marketing starts from understanding the needs of the consumer while developing a product and it includes sending the right message to the right person at the right time. Building strong communication skills helps understanding buyer needs as well as explaining your product in a clear and efficient manner. Marketer needs to understand the psychology of their potential buyers but that does not mean manipulation. Yes a marketer should have the ability to convince people to buyer their product but keeping a clean profile and building trust by providing products with real value will help you on the long run of becoming successful.

Digital marketing vs. Traditional marketing

The biggest difference between Digital and Traditional marketing is the Medium used. Just being a computer geek who can learn any tool does not mean or ensure becoming a good Digital Marketer. Marketing is about strategies and one should have good understanding of marketing concepts in order to sell on any platform regardless of whether it’s Digital or Traditional. Digital marketing in the current day and age is absolutely one of the best way to sell your products.

Traditional Marketing such as TV ads may reach a huge number of people at a lower cost compared to the money that needs to be spent on digital platforms to reach the same amount of people however marketing on a digital marketing has it’s own perks. An ad on Digital platform can be targeted towards a particular audience. I can customize an ad reach based on Age, Gender, Geography and so on. Targeting a specific group of people helps in better conversion rate and also helps to manage your marketing budget efficiently.

CATT Marketing Funnel

This is one of the best formula I have ever come across when it comes to Digital Marketing. Let me explain what it means.

Wealth = n^CATT, where

  • n- niche
  • C- Content about your product or niche you selected such as articles, videos etc.
  • A- Attention/traffic(using SEO, SEM, paid ads, Social Media, referrals, emails)
  • T- Trust(using trip wires, marketing automation, retargeting)
  • T- Transaction(convert leads into customers using natural sales)

choosing a niche

The above diagram explains how to choose a niche. When selecting the niche you can’t only focus on niche that has the most money in the market right now. The niche you select should be a passion of yours certainly something which you can write content about regularly but having passion is not enough, you should the talent as well, Imagine you are passionate about films but can you start selling course based on just passion? No. However if you are passionate about something you can always learn and build talent yourselves about the subject. Nobody is a guitarist by birth, they learn the instrument and become talented. Then Why Market is present in the picture?, it is there because if there is no market for things you are talented and passionate about it may lead you nowhere at all.

Then I have a question myself “Can one create a Market themselves?”. Well I don’t think it’s impossible, People with exceptional qualities and intelligence can create anything. I mean look at Jeff Bezos with amazon.

After you choose your niche you have to provide content it can be regular website articles, videos etc that can help you attract your potential customers. You can attract people with organic reach or you can use paid ads services. Once people are attracted to your content you need to build trust. You need constantly provide them with valuable information. People always choose to buy things from trusted websites or brand. We live a world where where there are so many websites who scam people and people are very concerned about their privacy, data and money.

Once you are able to earn trust of your audience then the next step is transaction where your audience buys your product or service. if you do not perfect the above steps mentioned the conversions rate will be very less.

Integrated Digital Marketing

There are number of ways or methods that can be used for digital marketing of your product.

The above picture explains on how you can integrate different parts of marketing methods. For example, you can market your articles using SEO and paid advertising. Once the user clicks on your website you can collect your website by offering them similar future content. You can build email list which will help you market your content as well selling your products. Making the best use of all this methods by integrating them can lower the cost in marketing and help you get better conversion rate.

Personal Branding: MassTrust Blueprint

This particular section helped me understand how important it is for someone to build personal brand. This is not always necessary however this can help build trust with audience in a better way. Personal branding helps audience to get better understanding of someone, their past, their knowledge, their accomplishments.

A personal brand can help in raising more brands. People hesitate to buy from new companies or brands but if the person behind the new company has a very good personal branding, it can connect people’s trust into the new company as well. Personal branding can help you bring more investment opportunities and sponsorships.

Choose a category and go narrow down in the sub-category and become a leader in that sub-category like an SEO expert, Social Media Expert, Marketing Automation Expert, etc.

There are six steps to become a category expert.

a) Learn — First, acquire a skill and master that skills through practice.

b) Work — Implement that skill in work and start earning.

c) Blog — Start writing what you have learned and experienced through your work. We will be an expert by writing and start building our own personal brand.

d) Consult — After getting good experience in that skill, we can start consulting with companies and personal, and can earn good money by consulting.

e) Mentor — Now we have good experience in that field and start mentoring one-to-one or group.

f) Start-up — After completing above mentioned 5 steps, now time to start a business. It will require a lot of effort to make a good business. First, try to do some side-hustle and earn some money while doing the job and try to make it a full-time business and then quit your job only once you are sure that your monthly expenses can be bear by your business.

Conclusion

Week 2 of the internship provided me with better understanding of marketing and importance of certain aspects. This article does not include everything that was taught in week 2 however these are certainly the topics that one should understand in order to become a successful Marketer.
